THE PILLOWMAN

THE PILLOWMAN, written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, was the winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2004. Katurian, a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state, is interrogated by two bulldogish detectives, Tupolski and Ariel regarding missing children cases which resemble his own Grimm’s-styled stories. The evening progresses from interrogation room to prison cell and back, leading to discoveries about the writer's own dark childhood, the brother whom he cares for, and the stories at the heart of it all. With many twists and turns, the line between reality and fairy tale is blurred until it's hard to know who is telling the truth in this thoughtful thriller.

Due to strong language and unsettling subject matter, audience discretion is strongly advised.
